BayBuddy is Back for Year 5!
Helping New Families Feel at Home at SoBay
The SoBay PTO is excited to welcome back BayBuddy for its 5th year! Our family-to-family mentoring program designed to help new Somerset Academy Bay families feel connected from day one.
Through BayBuddy, experienced SoBay families volunteer as Sponsor Families, offering guidance, answering questions, and sharing their firsthand experience to help make the transition to our school as smooth and welcoming as possible.

How It Works
- Complete the BayBuddy application to become a Sponsor Family or request a BayBuddy as a new family.
- The PTO Board, in partnership with school administration, carefully matches families based on their children's grade levels.
- Once matched, introductions are made by email so you can begin connecting right away.
As a Sponsor Family, You'll:
- Welcome and support a new SoBay family during their first school year.
- Check in occasionally by email, text, phone, or in person.
- Share your experiences and help point families to the right school resources when needed.
- Help build a stronger, more connected SoBay community.
No one expects you to have all the answers; just a friendly face, a welcoming spirit, and a willingness to help!
As a token of our appreciation, Sponsor Families will receive 15 school volunteer hours for participating in the BayBuddy program.
Together, we can make every new family feel welcomed, supported, and part of the SoBay family from the very beginning.
